White Tiger

(Richard Martin, US, 1996)

Whilst not strictly conforming to Dark Star's remit of fantasy genre coverage (not that that really stops us bringing to your attention films likely to be of interest), this Hong Kong-style drug villains/cops/guns actioner will be of particular interest to fans of Babylon 5. It stars Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa who has guested on the show, having also starred in the big screen version of the classic video game beat 'em up Mortal Kombat. But testosterone-pumping males will want to see this for Julia Nickson who portrayed Commander Sinclair's girlfriend in the first season of the superb SF show (see Michael O'Hare interview). Her naked sex scenes will stay with them more than the original story written by Impact magazine editor Bey Logan, but director Richard Martin gives the Triad underworld chaos a certain quality gloss finish, otherwise completely throw away.
